Ok, now the Ashley part

Ok, now the Ashley update....

On a not so good note, we had quite the scare with Ashley last weekend. On Saturday, Ashley woke up crying (which normally she wakes up happy and smiling) and her heart was racing and beating really hard. At first we thought maybe she had had a nightmare...but 15-20 minutes later her heart was still going and she was acting kind of lethargic. Matt checked her heart rate and it was very high (170 when 110 is normal), so he brought her right to the doctors. I was a nervous wreck while waiting to hear feedback. Sometimes Matt is a little too laid back and minimizes symptoms/pain when Ashley's sick, so for him to take this so seriously and act so quickly made me even more nervous that it was serious. Thankfully everything was ok with her heart (thank you God). The doctor said that it is actually an early sign that a virus is going to start soon, and was impressed that we caught that.

Ashley was acting totally normal but her appetite was a little off for breakfast and lunch. She went down for a nap and slept a LONG time...over 3 hours and we actually ended up waking her up. When she woke up from her nap, she was burning up. We took her temperature and it was 104.8. That was also very scary because it was so high. We called the on-call nurse, and apparently even though that can be deadly for grown adults, young children's temperatures can go up to 107/108 before it can do damage or become life threatening. She just directed us to give her a slightly cool bath, put her in light pajamas, give her medicine and fluids and keep an eye on things. She did say if her heart rate was elevated again to call back though (which it wasn't). Thankfully her fever went down some. It was down to 102 before bed and she was already acting pretty normal (which is surprising since her temp was still up there). I was waiting for vomiting or dirahhea to start, but thankfully it never came. She just woke up with a runny nose that lasted a couple days. I am very thankful that all was ok.

On a sad note, we were supposed to go out to dinner with our good friends Jen and Jim who were in town that night, but obviously we cancelled. I didn't want to leave Ashley with a sitter when she wasn't feeling good. Not fair to her or the sitter. But I was bummed since I want to get in as much time with Jen and Jim before we move. Thankfully Jen and I got to have some time to catch up the day before when we went for lunch, and Jim came by afterward too....and luckily they'll be back in a couple weeks with the girls, so we'll fit in lots of fun time during that trip I hope.

I am happy to report that Ashley is back to her old self and doing well.

She has been so cute lately. She will ask for something, and when you repeat it and say "so you want ______?", she'll respond with "ok". But the way she says ok sounds like you're the one suggesting the idea in the first place. It's too funny.

She also made me proud. The other day we were upstairs doing puzzles...she has about 5 of them, and she did every single one, and got every single one right, including one that was a clock with lots of numbers and different shapes. I was impressed.

The day after being sick, she still wasn't 100% back to normal so we stayed in. Matt decided to wash the truck and car, and Ashley wanted to help. Here are a couple cute pics from that, along with the pics from Jen and Jim's visit.
