Before the month of January comes to an end, I figured I'd better update to announce that my baby is now 4 years old! 4!!! I cannot believe it.
Ashley had a very special birthday. She came downstairs in the morning (it was still dark since they get up so early these days), and was so thrilled and excited when we turned the lights on and she saw the place decorated for her special birthday morning as well as all decorated and set up for the birthday party.
We had her favorite breakfast--mommy's homemade pancakes that she requests almost every morning and opened up a couple of cards and gifts. Then we finished getting ready for the special FROZEN birthday party. We had a joint party for Ashley and Emily this year--we had small celebration on Thanksgiving with our family, but figured we'd do a joint party with friends. I had wanted to do sometime in December so that it'd be in between their birthdays, but December is just so hectic with the holidays so we opted to hold off until January.
The party was lots of fun. Ashley dressed up in her Elsa dress and braided her hair, and Emily wore an Elsa and Anna shirt. We had fun activities--2 "build your own snowman" crafts, pin the nose on Olaf, hot potato (or I should say cold Olaf), and decorate your own cupcakes. Ashley had enjoyed helping me prepare this year too--for one of the build your own snowman crafts, you put large marshmallows, mini marshmallows, pretzel sticks and chocolate chips into baggies. She helped me count the amounts to put in, and also helped sample the items...haha. We also made "ice" from jello jigglers, and she helped me to make that.
A couple hours later we had part 2 of the party celebration with grandmom, grandpop, Uncle Andrew, Aunt Lauren and Ben. It was a fun day of celebrating. The girls had a great time, and mommy was pooped.
It's been a beautiful journey watching my baby grow into an amazing, fun, loving, kind, outgoing, bright, full-of-life little
girl.
